Percy Fawcett's Lost City of Z
A decorated British explorer vanished in the Amazon searching for a lost city he believed was connected to Atlantis — and the dozens of rescue expeditions sent after him disappeared or died too.
Percy Fawcett, a British explorer, geographer, and veteran of seven prior Amazon expeditions, disappeared in 1925 while searching for what he called the "Lost City of Z" — a hypothesized advanced ancient civilization in the Brazilian rainforest. He was never found, and numerous later expeditions searching for him also ended in death or disappearance.
